4 Different Versions Of A Raw Food Diet
There are at least 4 different versions of a raw food diet. Where you come in these groups of people is dependent on your motivation for going on this type of restrictive diet. For some it is a matter of conscience that they do not eat meat. For other the motivation will be to lose weight or simply to improve health.
Raw Food And Weight Loss
Following the great success of the south beach diet and the low GI diet many people have got the message that eating raw food is good for you. They also discover that it can help you lose weight. This was my first motivation in eating more raw fruit and vegetables. Having lost 5 Stones with a mad fad diet I had to change to real food and I decided that raw food would play a big part for me and my diet. As it turns out I enjoy raw food much more than I had anticipated and could never return to my junk food diet of previous years.
Vegetarian Diet And Raw Food
Because a vegetarian has stopped eating meat they are looking to replace the proteins and some of the fats with vegetables and fruit. Moving to raw food is a natural consequence of deciding not to eat meat – whatever the reason for that decision.
Vegans and raw food.
Vegans go a step further and do not eat any animal products of any description. They will still cook fruit and vegetables but much of their diet will be raw. It can be a real challenge to get all the nutrients that you need from purely vegetables, fruits, grains and seeds but it is possible.
Raw Foodists And Raw Food.
The most committed raw food diet aficionados will eat a diet similar to vegans with the addition that they will not heat or cook their food. This can be even harder to maintain and in practice there are very few people who would honestly say they eat 100% of their food as raw. The well known Raw Food Secrets book explains how to eat nearly all of your food raw. Click Here to learn more.
For me I walk the path that many choose which is to eat a large amount of raw food as part of a healthy diet. My aim is good long term health. If I want to lose a bit more weight then it is very easy to adjust my portions and reduce the fats and proteins slightly. For the most part however you can maintain a healthy weight on a raw food diet.
