What Does The Raw Food Diet Consist Of?
You are almost certainly on the raw food diet as you read this. You didn’t even know it. If you eat any raw food in your current diet then you are on the way to a raw food eating diet that will improve your health and can help you lose weight if you need to.
What you need to do is increase the percentage of your food that is raw and unprocessed. So if you already eat fruit, salad or nuts then you have made start.
The great thing about changing your diet is that you can move over slowly and set yourself realistic targets for the amount of raw food you are going to eat each day. This also means that when you eat out you do not have to beat yourself over the head about what you order at a restaurant. Just choose one of the better options for your health.
Some people advocate changing over to 100% raw food in their diet. Unless you have particular health or ethical reasons for this I do not recommend this. The medical profession experts tell us that a varied balanced diet is what we should be eating. They also tell us that we should eat between 5 and 10 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. This fruit and veg intake will in the main be raw and help you in your raw food diet.
I currently eat 60% – 70% of my food raw. It is quite easy to get to this level without turning into a weird person. In fact I have found that many of my friends and colleagues have copied my diet. I still eat cooked meals and meat although the intake of this type of meal has greatly reduced over the last 3 years as I have come to prefer the raw food options.
What you will stop eating is heavily processed foods. You will find that your palate will start to dislike and reject food from fast food chains. Frozen ready meals also taste like cardboard in gravy. So take care if you are new to a raw food diet. Chocolate bars and sweets also taste dreadful and you will find yourself wondering what you ever saw in them.
Eventually you will find that your body enjoys raw food so much that it will complain if you try to go back to your old ways. But of course you don’t have to.
