This is the first of a series of articles about some of the best foods that you can eat on a raw food diet

Spinach is well known as a great food for health. Most people would consider it best as a cooked vegetable to accompany a meal. It can also be incorporated into recipes such as lasagne and casseroles. There are nutritional benefits to eating spinach cooked as some of its vitamins and nutrients are better absorbed when it is cooked. I still however prefer raw spinach both for its taste and its health benefits. There are 3 ways to each spinach raw.

Juicing Spinach

When I first heard of the idea of juicing spinach I was not at all sure. When you try it on its own it does taste quite dreadful. This is true even if you water it down. What You can do however is mix it with other ingredients that cover some of the flavour of the spinach but still allow you to drink all the goodness. The recipe I use the most has the following ingredients. Spinach, Apple, Pineapple, Carrot and Ginger. You can find the complete recipe in the FREE 7 day raw food diet.

Salad Spinach

While rocket is all the rage as a leafy salad vegetable Spinach is at least as good in terms of flavour. It is also way out in front in the amount of great vitamins that are contained within it. You can use it as a raw base for a main meal or simply include it in a melee of mixed salad vegetables.

Steamed Spinach

This is not strictly a way to eat spinach raw but if you quickly steam spinach for just one minute and serve it immediately you will keep nearly all the goodness in the spinach. You will also find that the Spinach still has a leafy texture rather than becoming a blob of green mush.
