The raw food diet has the benefit of filling you up with good foods and removing many of the junk food choices that we have become used to in the 21st century. Raw foods diet weight loss happens for a number of reasons. These are not always obvious to the person starting a raw food diet so let me run through some of the reasons that you will lose weight.

Most Raw Food Is Healthy Food.

If you look through the options you have on a raw foods diet you can see that they are natural foods that are full of vitamins and nutrients. By combining these food options and mixing and matching them you will automatically be eating low calorie and low fat foods that will not increase your weight. It is very hard if not impossible to consume enough raw food to make you put on weight. What happens of course is that you feel full and you will have eaten many fewer calories than on a non raw foods diet.

Raw food takes longer to eat.

Because you have to chew your raw food it stays in your mouth longer and you take longer over your meals. The idea of bolting down a tuna salad in a few minutes is ridiculous. The tuna might slide down quickly but a plate full of crunchy and crispy salad vegetables will take some chewing to swallow and digest. What happens is that you start to feel full before you finish your meal because your brain has worked out that it is taking alot of work to get the meal consumed and send a message to your stomach that you have had enough.

Raw food makes your body work harder.

Following on from this, your digestive system has to work very hard to break down raw food. Once it has done it job you get all the nutritional benefits of raw food as it feeds through to your body. Junk food can slip through your body almost unnoticed apart from all the fat content which it cannot get rid of easily. You do not get a bloated feeling on the raw foods diet because your food is not just sitting waiting to pass through. It is being worked on by your stomach and intestines to make sure all the nutrients are taken on board. If there is nothing good in your food then your body knows this and will ignore it.
